We built Midwest Data because healthcare data systems are hard.
Hunter Muse has spent years production data systems for healthcare companies. He saw the same problems repeat: fragmented sources, unreliable pipelines, teams drowning in manual work. Midwest Data exists to solve that, once and for all.

A Decade Inside Healthcare Data
Hunter spent nearly a decade inside healthcare data — first at Health Catalyst, where he rose from analytics engineer to Analytics Director, leading teams that turned messy Epic and Cerner data into analytics that delivered millions in savings for hospital systems. Along the way he worked across claims, value-based care, and clinical operations, and saw the same problem everywhere: healthcare teams stuck with fragile pipelines and engineers who didn't speak their language.
He founded Midwest Data to fix that — bringing senior, healthcare-native engineering to startups, VBC organizations, and specialty pharmacies that need production-grade data systems without building a data team from scratch. He knows the patterns, the pitfalls, and what actually works at scale.

Senior engineers,
healthcare-native
Our team is made up of senior data engineers with deep healthcare experience. Most of our team is US-based, with some support in Canada. No junior bench. No handoffs. Just experienced operators.
We speak healthcare data
Healthcare data is different. Claims structures, compliance requirements, operational workflows—we've built systems across all of it. That expertise means faster decisions, fewer false starts, and outcomes that actually work.

Clients own what's built
We design systems for your team to operate independently. No vendor lock-in, no dependency.
Built for the long term
We think in years, not quarters. Systems are documented, tested, and designed to scale.
Transparent from the start
We explain our decisions, show our work, and keep you informed every step of the way.
Questions
Common questions about how we work and what we deliver.
No. We support and upskill your existing team. Our goal is to build systems your people can own and operate long-term, not create dependency on us.
We're tool-agnostic. We work with what makes sense for your infrastructure, whether that's Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or others. The system matters more than the tool.
Yes. We operate under HIPAA and maintain SOC2 Type II certification. Security and compliance are built into how we work, not added later.
We typically move from kickoff to production in weeks, not quarters. We've built enough healthcare data systems to know the patterns. No discovery theater, just work.
Yes. Our case studies show real problems we've solved and outcomes we've delivered. We're happy to discuss specifics with qualified prospects.
